Past Studies

Here are some studies that we have conducted in the past:

           Physical Activity and Memory

Description: All individuals who qualify for and participate in the study will be compensated $50 for their time. The study consists of two visits over the course of one week. The first visit will last about 30 minutes where you will sign a consent form. During the study you will be required to wear an actigraph, which is a small device that tracks movement and is worn around the waist, and keep an exercise log for one week. You will receive instructions on these during this meeting. You will also be given a sleep questionnaire to fill out at home.

The second visit will occur about 1 week after the first visit and will last between 2 and 2.5 hours. During this time, you will complete some more questionnaires, have your blood drawn, and be scanned using the MRI machine.

We are flexible with scheduling. We can work with you to find a time for participation.

Dates: December(?) 2014-March 2015

Sleep and Memory Study

All individuals who qualify for and participate in the study will be compensated $30 and a picture of their brain. The study consists of two visits (beginning either in the morning at 9 am or in the evening at 9 pm) with a 12 hour delay between each visit. The first visit will last about 2 hours and will consist of performing a task in and outside the MRI scanner. Participants study a number of pictures and are then tested immediately on half of them inside the scanner. Twelve hours later, participants are tested on the other half, again inside the scanner. The second part will last about 45 minutes. In between sessions, participants will be required to wear an actigraph, which is a small device that tracks movement/sleep and is worn around the waist.
